GIRLS GOLF
CODE OF ETHICS
Girls Golf members are committed to playing golf with the following values in mind:
Speak truthfully and live your truth.
Treat others as you would like to be treated.
Replace divots, rake bunkers, and repair ball marks so you leave the course better than you found it, as you should the world.
Practice good sportsmanship - club throwing, swearing, cheating, and littering are not acceptable.
Always thank your supporters, including your host golf professionals.

The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf (Girls Golf) provides an opportunity for girls, grades 2-12, to learn to play golf, build lasting friendships, and experience competition in a fun, supportive environment preparing them for a lifetime of enjoyment with the game. The only national initiative of its kind, Girls Golf is administered through a partnership between The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Foundation and the United States Golf Association (USGA), both non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. Girls are given the opportunity to learn valuable lessons inherent in the game of golf, such as patience, respect, perseverance and honesty, preparing them to meet the challenges of today's world with confidence.
The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Coronado is committed to introducing girls to the game of golf in a fun and non-threatening environment and to use the opportunity to promote life skills: esteem for herself and others, confidence, leadership, and the vision to dream big.
nstructors & Golf Course Staff
The program couldn’t exist, especially with its ability to provide such value to its members, without the support of its Lead Instructors - Hanna Raine Cohan, LPGA, and Judy Stillman, Class A LPGA, and the Coronado Golf Course Staff. It says a lot when the most played golf course in Southern California goes out of its way to create a 6-hole Par-3 course at each event out of the first two Championship holes to accommodate our Birdie Level Golfers. Ron Yarbrough and his Pro Shop Staff's patience and positive support is inviting and encouraging.
Patience and generosity are the operative words for the Clubhouse and Grill as they accommodate our events and host our annual Club Championship Awards Banquet.
Our appreciation and thanks go out to all!
The program would never have gotten started nor be able to provide such value to its members without the support of its two major sponsors: the Coronado Women’s Golf Club (CWGC) and the Women’s Southern California Golf Association (WSCGA) Foundation.
The CWGC originally founded Girls Golf in 2001 with seed money as well as elbow grease from lots of CWGC volunteers under the leadership of Carole Tessicini and Betty Fischer. The CWGC continues its sponsorship into this eighth season with its annual $1,000 donation. All donations to Girls Golf are doubled thanks to the USGA Matching Grant Program. Although Carole Tessicini is still at the helm, committed efforts by Allison Logan, Brenda Gino,
WSCGA came on board as Girls Golf major sponsors 4 years ago. Their substantial annual support - also matched by the USGA's Matching Grant Program - has enabled the program to meet the needs of its advancing players. In its first days, all of Girls Golf members were Pre-Pars and Pars, focusing on off-course clinics. Eighty percent of its members are now Birdies, Eagles and Future Stars, all of whom play on-course at most of the events at Coronado Golf Course. Girls also enjoy two ‘away’ events at Mission Bay Golf Course and Reidy Creek in
Other loyal sponsors include the Optimists Club of Coronado, the Coronado Junior Women’s Club, the Rotary Club, and Blumenthal Insurance Services. Judy Stillman, a Class A LPGA and a master at putting together golf teaching programs, has provided instruction since the very start coming all the way from Rancho Bernardo. Hanna Raine Cohan, an LPGA, has been coaching golf skills to the girls since 2003.
