The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Coronado (Girls Golf) just completed its fifth event this season with its annual Mother-Daughter Day.  Mothers and Daughters joined together for fun competition, awards and refreshments.  While some moms caddied for their on-course players, others played a scramble SNAG Golf Tournament and all competed together on the program’s new 9-hole Putting Course.  I trust that both mothers and daughters had a good time.  We look forward to hosting daughters and dads on June 16th!  Please take a look at the pictures in the PHOTO GALLERY.

Much goes into making our program possible and as good as it is.  There is a lot of visible and not-so-visible effort that goes into the planning and execution of our 9 month season.  There is also the not-so-visible financial support that comes from our many Girls Golf friends.  Our major sponsors are the Coronado Women's Golf Club and the Women's Southern California Golf Association.  Please take the time to read ABOUT GIRLS GOLF for more detail.

The girls recognize how fortunate they are and show their gratitude in a variety of ways including by giving to others.  We just completed our annual ‘Cleaning Clubs for Becky’s House’ event on Saturday, May 27.  Organized by Beccy Yim, a Girls Golf member, girls sign up for a minimum of one hour to clean clubs for donations for Becky's House, a "safe house" located in San Diego and run by the YWCA for survivors of domestic violence and their children.  Golfers coming off the 18th green at the Coronado Golf Course donate various amounts to have their golf clubs ‘professionally cleaned’.  The girls also contracted with Head Pro Ron Yarbrough to clean all 60 rental club sets.  The event will have netted over $500 this year when all is said and done.  LPGA Tour player, Jill McGill, matches whatever the girls raise – which should bring this year’s donation to Becky’s House to well over $1,000.

Well, June and July are just around the corner bringing with them - summer vacation, of course - and Father-Daughter Day, the Coronado 4th of July Parade and the start of our Summer Lesson Series.  Please take a look at the sign-up sheet and, if you are a Girls Golf member, get yourself registered.

Speaking of being grateful . . . the photos around this page are some of the people whose efforts make the program possible, valuable and fun.  You may want to say a special word of thanks or send a thank you note when you have a moment.
